This is a Japanese Immersion second grade class. Students will be introduced to Katakana and kanji from the stories they will be reading. Math and science will be mainly taught in Japanese. They will be introduced to Jazz and music history from UCLA Jazz Symphonic Orchestra. This year we will have visiting artists from Arts Integration Program. Students will also start learning the friendly letter format and start writing to their own pen pal in Spanish Immersion Program.
The two main projects in second grade will be the Ancestor Report where they interview their grandparents to create the family tree, and the Dinosaur Report where they create a report and the diorama about a specific dinosaur.
