What
Flu Vaccines for Staff, Students & Families
When
10/26/2011

The CCUSD School Nurses will be offering FREE Flu Vaccines to all interested students, their families, and staff members. Vaccines will be given during normal school hours.

The schedule for each site is as follows:

Tuesday, October 25, 2011:       Linwood E. Howe, Middle School and District Office
Wednesday, October 26, 2011:  El Rincon, El Marino and Culver Park
Thursday, October 27, 2011:      La Ballona and High School
Friday, October 28, 2011:          Farragut and Office of Child Development

Healthy people between 2 and 49 years of age will receive the FluMist nasal spray. Individuals 50 years of age or older or individuals with health concerns will receive the Flu shot (please be aware that we are administering the Fluarix influenza vaccine, which is not available to anyone under 3 years of age).

The Flu Screening and Consent form for 2011-12 is available below or at www.CCUSD.org. To ensure that your child receives his/her flu vaccine at school, please return the completed Flu Screening and Consent form to the School Nurse at your site before the Flu clinic date listed above. We will glady accept any $ donations to help cover the costs of administering the vaccine.

In addition to getting the flu vaccination, here are some helpful tips to help you stay healthy during the cold and flu season:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and then throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone, except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
