On March 14, students from Culver City High School, Culver Park High School and Culver City Middle School will participate in a nationwide walkout to voice their opinions about gun violence and honor the victims of the Parkland shooting.
At 10 a.m., students will congregate on the CCHS football field to rally and deliver speeches expressing their views on the issue. The demonstration will end promptly at 11 a.m., and students will return to class. Students who choose not to participate will remain supervised on campus.
We will have many adults on hand to help with this event and ensure the safety of students during the one-hour rally. We also wish to reiterate the value of your partnership and encourage you to get involved. CCUSD parents (ONLY) interested in attending should fill out the form here. The form will close Monday at 12 pm. All parents must RSVP and report to the CCMS main office between 9:00 and 9:30 AM. Parents must go through our standard check-in procedure. See the press release for more information.
If you can't attend the walkout, but still want to make your voice heard, the California State PTA is asking for your help to "call out" our federal legislators and demand action. Stand together with the voices of students and call your federal legislators on March 14 to demand stronger gun-violence prevention legislation, including:
-Prohibiting the sale and possession of assault weapons including automatic and semi-automatic weapons
-Mandatory background checks
-Waiting periods for all firearm purchases.
