HOW TO BECOME A CLEARED VOLUNTEER

2. Our El Marino School Nurse can perform the TB test questionnaire. If the nurse feels you
need a chest X-Ray, then you will need to get one from your physician to show. Please
check in with front office staff prior to make sure the nurse is available.
3. Turn in your completed Volunteer Application Packet and TB Test Certification
Assessment to the school secretary.
4. All volunteers will need to get a livescan done with both the DOJ & FBI.  We will not accept a live scan without both being done.

5. After you have completed and turned in your packet to the Site Secretary, you will be required to take the Mandated Reporter training. What is the ASCIP training, who needs to take it, and why?
California Senate Bill 848 (SB 848), officially known as the School Employee Misconduct: Child Abuse Prevention Act, is a state law designed to strengthen student safety, child abuse reporting, and employee vetting across public and private K-12 schools.  All volunteers are required to take the mandated training on a yearly basis.  The training will be assigned to active volunteers at the start of each school year. 
6. If I have done Mandated Child Abuse training elsewhere, can I use that certificate? Yes.  

You would follow the directions below to upload your certificate once your ASCIP account is created.  An Admin will look over the certificate, approve it, and then mark your training as complete.  The training must be done after July 1st of each year to be considered.

You can upload your outside certificate of completion by following these steps:

1. Go to the My Completions tab.  

2. Click My Other Completed Trainings.  

3. Select an answer.

4. Search for the correct training, then click Submit.  

5. Upload their certificate of completion.  

6. Enter the date they completed the training.  

7. Click Done.  
7. If you are a volunteer at multiple sites, you will need to complete volunteer paperwork for EACH site. You will NOT need to redo your TB or Live scan, just the application to be signed by the administration. 
8. How often does my TB need to be completed? Every 4 years.
